The weather today was terrible. It rained so hard I didn't even want to leave the house, but when it finally slowed down a little we ventured out to purchase a baby item. Okay so maybe it isn't a "baby" item. It is more of a "big girl" item. We bought Gabby a potty chair. I know she is only 13 months old and maybe it is kind of early, but she seems so interested when I am using the bathroom that I thought, what the heck. Well.....lets just say it didn't go well.
I figured whenever I went to the bathroom I would take her with me and put her on the potty. Also before and after the bath and just see how she does. Well the first time we tried Gabby wouldn't even sit on the potty. She is a crazy girl. Running, climbing, running, running, that is pretty much all she does. Getting her to sit still long enough for a diaper change is a huge chore (hence my reasoning for the early potty). So once I am done I just put her diaper back on and we go downstairs. I talked about the potty the whole time, how it is for pee and poop and how mommy is using the potty. She didn't care, she thought it was fun to just open and close the lid and try to stick her hand in the bowl. I told her dirty. She laughed.
The second try was during bath time. I set her on the potty while the tub was running hoping the sound of the water would make her go. This time she sat a little longer only to jump up, run to the side of the tub and pee all over the floor. Then I picked her up and put her back on and said "pee on the potty". She jumped up again and I figured that was it and I would just put her in the tub. Well as soon as I went to pick her up she starting to pee all over the floor again. So we are going to try sitting on the potty with the diaper, just hanging out while mommy goes for now. I am in no hurry, just think if she shows interest go for it. Well now she has no interest.
She amazes me everyday. I mean after I put her to bed I sit and think about how much she has changed since the day she was born and how much she has learned in the past 13 months. She just plain amazes me. I am so blessed to have such a great girl.
